I spent from 5 until 6:30 pm repeating the following, "Slow down or someone is going to get hurt." The boys calmed down for about two seconds after each reminder and then resumed chasing each other around the house. I even gave them a "breaks'' where each boy spent five minutes in a different room for 5 minutes to calm down. This had little effect. About three minutes after the time out, they returned to full sprint. At 6:30 pm, a collision occurred. Of course one boy claimed to have hurt his nose, and the other claimed to have hurt his toe. The hurt nose proved more plausible, since that boy was bleeding. I didn't see any actual evidence of a hurt toe. The timing was even more suspicious. The cries of a wounded toe did not commence until his brother received the Thomas the Train ice pack to treat his nose. I hope this flat out rejection of my advice is not indicative of what the teenage years will be like.

I often ask if anyone can hear me talking for all the results my warnings produce. "Is there sound coming out of my mouth?"
