Daylight Savings

It's official: I hate daylights saving. Before having kids, I was never a big fan of it. Alright I take that back. I liked the "fall backwards" where I got to sleep in for an extra hour. Because I'm a complete geek, I particularly loved the thrill of "surprising" myself with an extra hour by intentionally leaving my clock on summer time and then suddenly remembering the next morning that the clocks had gone back. Maybe I shouldn't admit that. Sometimes I'm embarrassed to know myself! Other than that, I hate adjusting to the time change.

I used the past tense when describing how I liked to sleep in because that hasn't happened since having kids. In fact, it's been quite the opposite. Ever since my seven-year's old first Daylight's Saving, I have gotten up an hour earlier, instead of sleeping in an hour. Yes, I have a 7 year old! Shocking isn't it! She's even listed in my profile. She's one of my cats.

If we don't think daylight savings makes a lot of sense anymore, I can pretty much guarantee that pets don't either. All it means to them is eating an hour later. Except that I did have one childhood dog who loved the "springing forward". It was her favorite day of the year; she got to eat one hour earlier.

A. Elliot's Lesson Learned: Only those who can tell time know they are getting an hour when the clocks go back.

I always spend the next few days thinking "well, it's REALLY an hour later..."

    Yep, I'm a geek too.

yeah -- this whole jumping ahead and it being dark at 5 SUCKS!!

Oh and trying to get ready for work when the toddler is awake sucks. Bring back my old time!

I have been doing the "its really 3:30 not 2:30" in my head for the past 2 days. The early darkness doesn't thrill me either

can i just say that our 11-month old has been acting like he flew from some remote island in norway home? does anyone else have horror stories of how this one-hour change is like the worst jet-lag ever? because, really, what is going on at our house would curl your hair! (it doesn't help that the molars look like they might be up for putting in an appearance...)
