Profound Thoughts

Today I had many profound thoughts on blog topics. (Pause here as I laugh at that!) I did really have a few things that I was planning on rambling..I mean writing...about today. However, I didn't sleep well last night or really most of the nights last week when I was sick and taking cold medicine. I never sleep well when I take it. Plus it was hot out today which was draining. Yes, I know I'm whining.

I also went to a meeting about Disney World this evening that someone in my moms group led. We're going in the fall for a family reunion and I have done absolutely no planning so far. Apparently some of restaurants and the character breakfasts are already booked. Who knew? Well, actually apparently everyone but me. We might have to go to the..slight pause of horror...fake Princess Breakfast at Epcot! I know it's terrible. My boys will definitely be in therapy for years to come over this because you know at the ripe old ages of 1 and 3.5 they know all about what to expect from Disney World. I'm totally kidding. I don't think OS really has any concept of Disney World and I know that YS doesn't.

I'm actually going to do something that's pretty astounding for me; go to bed early. Hopefully I won't be having nightmares about Mickey Mouse or outrageous therapy bills from fake Princess Breakfasts.

You are already one step ahead of me. I didn't even know there was such a thing as a character breakfast. I guess my parents really screwed me 21 years ago when I went!

    Alex,

We go to DW every summer... if you have questions, I'm your man!

Disney World has sure gotten competitive. When we took alex, we made reservations once we got down there. It really makes you wonder why DW just couldn't buy more Mickey Mouse suits and have more breakfast sites.

Crapadoo. I forgot that you have to book these things years in advance. Husband and I went to Disney World for our honeymoon specifically because I didn't want to have to plan anything after the wedding. Thus we did not make reservations for lunch in Cinderella's castle til we got there, and were lucky to be squeezed in at 3 pm on some random week day in June. Craziness. Just go and have fun. The kids won't remember anyway, as you already said.

Someone gave my daughter a HUGE Mini Mouse doll/thing and my then 3-year-olds kept calling her Mickey. I was so proud they were relatively clueless.

We're also waiting 1-2 more years until the little lady has a chance of remembering. Unlike GF, we only want to do this once.

My favorite Disney memory - My cousin and I waited in line for an hour (we were 18 and 16 at the time, btw) to meet and take a picture with Mickey Mouse. In our annoyance at waiting (with mostly kids who were half our age or younger) we started calling him "The Rat" and kept getting evil looks from the parents who were also waiting (too long) for The Rat :)

We're kind of a one-off Disney experience kind of family too, and we waited until the kids were older before we ventured. No, wait that's not true we did do a trip when my oldest was really young--for a family reunion like you are doing.
Anyway, the SECOND trip we took was when Ian and Emma were old enough to walk it on their own and ride most of the stuff.
I suppose though, with bonus package Andrew in the midst we are going to have to buck up and do it again in a few years! I guess I should make those reservations now, eh?
