Gyros In Denial

Today was an exciting day. My boys and I met Soccer Mom in Denial and her daughter for lunch. Yes, we have never met in person before, but I felt like I knew SMID from reading her blog and emailing with her. It wasn't too unusual an experience for me; I've had several playdates with people from my moms group where I only knew the mom from one or two emails over the group listserve.

Anyhow, it was fabulous meeting her, and her daughter was great too. She's just as great in person as she is on her blog. (Definitely check out her blog, if you haven't yet). Thoughtful mom that she is, she had a restaurant bag of toys and paper and colored pencils for the kids. The restaurant bag that I posted about way back in October, was conveniently located in the Big Giraffe's car a good hour away. I was a little distracted because OS had just been out of sorts all day. I am not sure that he said two words to SMID's daughter when we were all together, but he talked all afternoon about how he had lunch with her.

I also had an amazing gyro. I was a vegetarian for many years, and I still don't eat a ton of meat. However, I always love a good gyro. I hadn't found one I liked since I left NYC until today. Usually I take a few bites and then give the rest to Gandalph, our dog. The restaurant SMID reccomended had a great gyro. (I hope SMID wasn't too disturbed by the way I snarfed it down.) It was the perfect food for Aunt Flo's monthly visit too. While I enjoyed the flavor going down, I wasn't too thrilled when I could still taste it while working out tonight with the personal trainer. Sadly, if someone were to offer me a gyro from that restaurant right now, I would totally eat it.

I have a couple of memes I want to respond to over the weekend.

A. Elliot's Lesson Learned: Gyros and jumping jacks don't mix.

I plan to get all sappy with you and your brood next week. It's just the tooth fairy hijacked my site tonight!

I loved meeting you, OS and YS. Now we've got to do that museum near by.

PS - you snarfed? I was just so happy we were getting to actually eat and talk, a little.

    Hi Alex,

It's good to know that you got a chance to meet one of your blogger friends. I never met one but I think it will be lot of fun.

Thank you for introducing me to soccer mom.

Envy and longing dripping off me here too. Sounds like a lot of fun (and delicious too!)
Hooray for blogging friends meeting up!

Yay! That sounds like fun, and I love good gyros, so next time I am up to visit, we'll have to go.
