Day two of BlogHer was also excellent. I had a chance to meet even more terrific bloggers. It's always great to meet people whose blogs you really admire. (Despite my original apprehensions about BlogHer being like a Star Trek convention, in the end I was actually disappointed that there no one was dressed up like a computer. Perhaps next year.) After a tasty breakfast (I don't if you heard, but the kitchen at Navy Pier was shut down by the board of health right before the conference), I went to a session called "Taking Your Blog to the Next Level" or as Suzanne kept calling it "Pimping Your Blog". I learned a bunch of tricks which I will attempt to do when I get back to MA (read: when my technical guru, the Big Giraffe is over my shoulder to ensure I don't really mess up my blog). In reality, though, I feel pretty comfortable with what I learned.
After lunch I went to a session on professional blogging which was interesting followed by one on business considerations. That panel included a tax attorney and a copyright attorney. It was the best run discussion that I attended; in addition to offering a lot of practical advice, it really ran smoothly. Let me tell you, it took a lot of careful planning to catch the most efficient panels. OK so I must confess that I really was planning on attending a session about the blogging community, but I mixed up the rooms because I was deep in coversation with someone. By the time I realized my mistake I already had one of the coveted chairs in the room (I did find that chairs were hard to come by becaus well, there was 750 people at the conference at the last count that I heard) and was comfortable.
Afterwards, there was a mini-fair of sorts set up with hot dogs, hot pretzels, cotton candy, and other nourishment. As a concerned conference attendee, I felt it was critical for me to carefully invetigate the various offerings. I was particularly concerned about how well the hot pretzel could match up with the various condiments that were available, so I covered it in fake cheese sauce before carefully and repeatedly tasting it. (I'm getting hungry just thinking about it). I know, I know the sacrifices one must make.
The conference ended with a big bang. Elizabeth Edwards delivered the closing keynote. I really enjoyed listening to her. There's a link to this and all of the sessions at Blogher.org. Defintely check it out.
The conference was concluded with a cocktail party at the Children's Museum. It was kind of ironic considering how many bloggers were there escaping tearfully leaving their children at home that we ended up at a children's museum.
A. Elliot's Lesson Learned: BlogHer is a great learning experience and a lot of fun.Labels: Blogging Flexibly |
It was just the best to get to hang out with you on the lawn. I needed that, and you, Suzanne, Des and Count are women that I like and admire.
