Dumping on the Younger Child

Today a friend and I took our kids to the local petting farm and splash pad. Yes, you did read that right. I know that seems like a completely weird combination. After growing up in Chicago, I find a lot of things about MA strange! The kiddos had a great time petting and feeding the animals. Then we headed over to the splash pad to eat lunch and let kids splash around. (Technically we ate at the picnic tables next to the splash pad; we didn't eat in the splash pad.)

My older son (OS) ran into a friend from preschool. He was pretty excited about it. She showed him how he could fill a plastic cup, that had previously held animal feed, at the water table. The two of them had a great time. Somewhere along the line, they began to pour the water on my younger son's (YS) feet. He loved it. They did it a few times and then went on to do something else. Out of nowhere, 2 kids who had been watching this came over and dumped 2 cups of water on YS's head. I'm sure they thought that YS would also love it. Yeah, as you might guess he wasn't too happy. Luckily, the parents were close by and we were able to put a quick end to the situation. Poor YS! He quickly returned to good spirits despite still being binkyless.

3 days without binky and counting...

A. Elliot's Lesson Learned: Sometimes being the younger child means that you get lots of water dumped on your head.

We haven't made the inaugural trip to the petting zoo yet this year. If this warm weather keeps up we'll be splashing alongside you sooner than later!

Yeah for YS (and you, too!)
