Disney on Ice

A few days ago, the Big Giraffe came home with Disney on Ice tickets that he got from someone at work. When I was a little kid, I absolutely loved Disney on Ice so I was very excited to be able to go. After looking at the souvenirs (I still remember the Mickey Mouse flashlight that I desperately wanted when I saw Disney at Ice when I was 4), we found our seats and sat down. Then the Big Giraffe went out to perform a most important mission: getting us popcorn.

A few minutes after we settled in with our popcorn the show started. Let me just say that throughout the show the spotlight was on various objects like the glass slipper from Cinderella, the rose from the Beauty and the Beast etc. That made sense to me because those were important to the Disney stories. HOWEVER, when the spotlight was focused on the Zamboni, I was both disturbed and amused at the same time. It seemed comical that people were paying all this money to watch a Zambonie machine. That's right, along with the important characters like Mickey Mouse, Cinderella, Mulan, and Buzz Lightyear, the Zamboni machine also had a leading role. No, I'm not kidding.

Both my older son (OS) and my younger son (YS) loved the show. YS in particular loved the "It's A Small World" segment that they did. OS was a tiny bit scared of the shark from Finding Nemo and the whale from Pinocchio, but he recovered very quickly. In all fairness to him, he is only 3.5 and the only Disney movie he's seen is Cars. I have no doubt that by the time YS is 3.5 he'll have at least a few Disney movies under his belt because as a younger sibling he gets to do things at a much younger age than OS. As such, during one of the scary scenes in the show I realized that YS, who was sitting on my lap, had helped himself to a little bit of popcorn.

A. Elliot's Lesson Learned: There are a lot of advantages to being a younger sibling.
